Job Overview 

The Geospatial Analyst LiDAR is responsible for performing feature extraction and data modeling from a variety of sources. This includes extracting specific feature data in accordance with feature and terrain data specifications, project specific requirements, and other customer data specifications. The position requires a working knowledge of current compilation methodologies and geospatial tools as well as the ability understand and adapt to new trends and toolsets within the geospatial community. The Geospatial Analyst must have demonstrated skill effectively working in a team setting and be capable of meeting customer deadlines and quality requirements.

We are looking for a detailed, results-oriented analyst with a high degree of data management and technical credibility to fill this specialized role!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Extract feature and/or terrain data from a variety of sources (DTM / Plan)
  • Populate attribution from available sources
  • Create orthorectified imagery products
  • Perform product editing and finishing tasks
  • Conduct peer review of data
  • Create LAS Tiles from Aerial LiDAR
  • Perform LiDAR classification / Bare Earth Editing
  • Edit LiDAR Bare Earth

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Aerial LiDAR
  • Knowledge of:
    • Microstation, Terrasolid Products, LP360, ESRI ArcMap, Global Mapper
  • Ability to:
    • Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and respond to problems as they occur with diplomacy, common sense, and a positive attitude.
    • Establish and maintain project priorities.
    • Effectively apply the following systems: Global Mapper, GeoCue, TerraScan, TerraModeler, TopoDot, Photoshop
    • Exercise considerable judgement and discretion in completing assignments.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in related field or equivalent work experience and education.
  • 2+ years' experience with Aerial LiDAR
  • Experience complying to the Federal LiDAR specifications (USGS LiDAR Base Specification, USACE Photogrammetric and LiDAR Mapping Manual Specifications)
  • Experience with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE)
  • Experience with Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) compliant metadata is preferred
  • US. Citizenship required
