The Geodatabase Analyst will work within a government/contractor team providing database development support in creating cartographic and digital geospatial data products.  The Geodatabase Analyst uses their knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to implement workflows, create, and provision data content, conduct analysis, create products, and test GIS databases in support of customers within the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD).  They will work under the direction of others within larger project teams to provide this support.

The Geodatabase Analyst will work at NGA facilities in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO, with occasional travel to ESRI facilities in Vienna, VA or St. Charles, MO.

This position is contingent upon client approval, and successful cross-over of existing TS/SCI clearance.

  • Provide high-quality technical support and customer service to ESRI end users through effective communication and efficient troubleshooting
  • Resolve technical issues related to enterprise geodatabases using ESRI tools and other related technologies
  • Build databases or data stores from imagery and cartographic/digital sources, and support the development of GIS database designs
  • Review, interpret, and utilize established production processes
  • Perform mapping and webmap production tasks
  • Work well in a high energy, fast-paced, enthusiastic, positive, and collaborative culture
  • Identify issues and log defects for software improvements
  • Maintain comprehensive case documentation in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), author and technically edit knowledge articles available to internal and external users

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:

  • Proficiency with the ESRI product line, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS online, and related desktop extensions
  • Demonstrated experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), including Oracle, SQL Server, and PostGreSQL
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, including strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly, retain large amounts of information, and adapt to a changing work environment
  • Proficient written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong prioritization skills, including managing time and workload efficiently.

Preferred:

  • Background in software support or technical customer service with direct end user contact
  • Experience with data conversion/migration
  • Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems, Python scripting, and SQL
  • Experience with NGA systems, imagery, and digital mapping data, products, and services

 

Experience and Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, GEOINT, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related, technical field

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field

 

License and/or Certifications:

  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI Eligibility (TS/SCI)

 

Supervision Exercised:

  • Does not directly supervise employees; may be on team(s) providing guidance & instruction to others
