The IT System Administrator Level 1 is a corporate position with an emphasis on the successful and efficient use of IT infrastructure and business applications within all sectors of the company.  The IT System Administrator Level 1 tracks and manages each business sector's IT infrastructure and application needs and works to address them in a timely manner. The IT System Administrator Level 1 specializes in analyzing, designing and implementing information systems to ensure all sector IT needs are met.

  • IT Support
    • Field tier two support requests from Sector staff regarding day-to-day activities and validate the issues against sector-specific software products, data resources and business processes.
    • Liaison with Helpdesk Support staff to resolve IT support tickets.
    • Setup workstations with sector-specific related software/hardware
    • Oversees core business management systems and their integration
  • Resource Planning
    • Maintain an accounting of current hardware utilization and needs.
    • Communicate future hardware needs (e.g., new machines for new hires, top priority machines for replacement, etc.) to IT Manager in a timely manner.
    • Work with sectors to maintain a 6-month projection of data storage needs across all internal and cloud-based resources
  • Data Management
    • Load source data to network storage.
    • Perform scheduled backup fitness tests
    • Regularly audit network drive use to ensure optimal use.
  • Administrative
    • Maintain accurate inventory of sector specific software and hardware
    • Assist with software implementations
    • Ensure proper IT procedures are adhered to by staff.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of the windows 10, 2012r2 and 2016 operating system.
  • Experience working in a heterogeneous network environment (HP, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Watchguard)
  • Strong understanding of switching and routing concepts and best practices
  • Proficient in scripting languages (Powershell, VBscript, Python, Bash, etc)
  • Experience maintaining desktop and server hardware and software
  • Working knowledge of database maintenance and best practices a plus (MS SQL, Postgres, Maria)
  • Prior experience supporting and configuring geospatial software / hardware a huge plus (ArcGIS 10.X Desktop & Server, Bentley Microstation, Stereo Optics, GeoCue, ImageStation, LP360, QGIS, PostGIS)
  • Ability to communicate technical issues in written and/or verbal form.
  • Ability to create detailed and easy to follow documentation
  • Have a passion for sharing your knowledge with others
  • Soft skills to match your technical skills

 

Experience and Education:

  • Associates Degree and three years' relevant work experience, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience managing systems in remote offices and working with remote employees
