Project Manager - Survey 

Continental Mapping Consultants, Inc. of Sun Prairie, WI is seeking to hire a full-time Project Manager to join our survey project team. The survey manager will use both their professional survey licensure talents and their exceptional management skills to plan, resource, execute, and deliver final products that support national, environmental, security, and infrastructure programs. 


Continental Mapping Consultants, Inc. offers mapping and surveying services to governmental agencies and private entities focused on national security, mobility, environmental quality, and infrastructure. We employ innovative technologies to collect, process, curate and analyze geospatial data to better the world around us. Using imagery from cell phones to satellites, LIDAR point clouds, artificial intelligence, and commercial software development, we produce the geospatial data decision-makers need.

Responsibilities will include:

Manage direct reports

  • Address HR issues and facilitate HR plans
  • Assist in hiring process
  • Identify and nurture leadership qualities in employees
  • Schedule work for all personnel reporting to position
  • Approve expense and credit card reports 

Project Management

  • Overall project management that also includes work on projects (writing legal descriptions, computing boundary lines, reviewing calculations, reviewing and assembling deliverables, and so forth)
  • Daily field support, quality control, and troubleshooting
  • Assist in project documentation, fee estimating and reviewing scopes of work
  • Oversight and report of subcontractor progress and product for select federal survey efforts 

Survey Manager

  • Schedule safety meetings prior to new assignments with team members
  • Oversee purchasing of survey resources
  • Track and document calibration of equipment
  • Maintain current professional licenses and acquire additional licenses if required
  • Stay current with new technologies
  • Support R&D functions
  • Be a member in good standing in local and national survey societies 


Experience and EducationBachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred; with 5 years of job related experience with demonstrated advanced technical survey and leadership skills or combination of experience and education.

  • Knowledge of surveying best practices, boundary determination, fee estimating, legal description writing, traverse and GPS network computations, and survey history (GLO, BLM, State).
  • Ability to compute and troubleshoot electronic field data; perform quality management for deliverables.
  • Ability to operate AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Suite software packages.
  • Experienced understanding to support photogrammetric and LIDAR production is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of planning and resourcing of project execution and workflow.
  • Project management and Geospatial certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; manage your direct reports.
  • United States Citizen 
  • License and/or Certifications:
  • Professional Surveyor (any state)
  • Valid driver's license
